To enhance its audio experience while preserving its historic charm, the theater recently underwent a comprehensive audio system upgrade. Challenges and Solutions
The Paramount Theater needed a flexible, reliable audio system capable of supporting its diverse programming, which includes musicals, storytelling, comedy, and movies. The system had to balance modern audio needs with the theater’s historic architecture.
Javelin AV selected LEA Professional’s Connect Series amplifiers for their advanced features, including Hi-Z and Lo-Z compatibility, built-in Wi-Fi, and seamless integration with the existing network infrastructure. These amplifiers power a range of speakers specifically chosen to meet the theater’s acoustical demands.
To meet these challenges, Javelin AV also selected Biamp Community loudspeakers for their exceptional fidelity, consistent coverage, and elegant aesthetics. The IC6-1082/26 and IC6-2082/96 models feature large, rotatable horns coupled with high-quality compression drivers, ensuring smooth response through critical voice bands and seamless integration with high-output low-frequency drivers. These design elements provide consistent directivity and coverage, essential for delivering clear and intelligible sound throughout the theater. Additionally, the compact design of the RCF Compact M 04 speakers ensures they deliver high sensitivity and balanced sound, making them ideal for near-field applications such as orchestra pit and front-row coverage, without compromising the theater’s aesthetic integrity.
Speaker Installation
To ensure comprehensive audio coverage, the following speakers were installed:
Under Balcony Fills: Three Biamp Community IC6-1082/26B loudspeakers
Upper Balcony Delays: Three Biamp Community IC6-2082/96B loudspeakers
Low-End Reinforcement: Two Biamp Community IS6-218B subwoofers
Orchestra Pit and Front Row Coverage: Six RCF Compact M04 speakers installed below the lip of the stage
These speakers, powered by LEA’s Connect Series amplifiers, deliver clear, balanced audio to every seat in the house.
Amplifier and Tuning Highlights
The LEA Connect Series amplifiers utilized include:
CS352: Powers stage monitors.
CS354: Manages left, center, and right lip fills, plus an additional stage monitor.
CS704: Drives main loudspeakers and balcony delay speakers.
CS1504: Utilizes LEA’s Smart Power Bridge to power subwoofers and 70V paging systems in the lobby, bathrooms, and dressing rooms.
System tuning and programming were completed using LEA’s SharkWare software, allowing precise configuration of amplifier profiles and acoustic adjustments tailored to the theater.
